S.W. Basics Cleanser

Today I want to share with you a personal favorite skincare line called S.W. Basics.

S.W. Basics makes natural skincare products from organic, fair trade and or local farms sourced ingredients. Its philosophy is to create quality products that are free of synthetics and fillers, made with only 5 ingredients or less. These natural products are efficient and effective in getting the job done.

S.W. Basics cleanser

S.W. Basics cleanser is a non-foaming face wash that gently removes dirt and oil. It’s mild enough for sensitive skin.  It’s a clear liquid that comes in a glass bottle (both trial and full size) with a resealable twist cap. The cleanser has a hint of tea tree smell but the scent is not overpowering and will disappear after rinsing with water. It’s not greasy or sticky.

  1. Organic rose water – water steeped with rose petals to help soothe and calm irritated skin while gently moisturizing.
  2. Organic vegetable glycerin – a blend of vegetable oil used to sooth and moisture the skin.
  3. Organic tea tree oil – oil extracted from tea tree leaves that acts like an antiseptic to kill bacteria and treat skin infections.

How to use

I use the Basics’ cleanser as the 2nd step to my double cleansing after all my makeup have been removed. This cleanser is different from your normal face wash because this cleanser does not foam. You can either pour the cleanser onto a cotton pad or splash the cleanser directly onto your skin and rinse off with water. Wiping your face with a moist cotton pad will create a deeper cleanse.  The wash will not leave your skin dry or tight with the squeaky clean feeling.

Result

I came across this S.W. Basics products when I was browsing through my local Urban Outfitters store. I randomly picked it up and thought… wow there’s only a handful of ingredients in the cleanser. I didn’t think twice and just bought it on the spot because I was having horrible breakouts again and I had nothing to lose. I tried it once I got home that night. I cleansed my face with the cleansing water followed by the cleanser. I was pleasantly surprised to see dirt and oil left behind by the cleansing water. I continue to use the cleanser as part of my routine and after 1 week of daily use I notice I was clearing up. The break out around my cheeks cleared up nicely without the dry patchy skin. It leaves the skin feeling clean, fresh and moisturized. The texture is not greasy but  it still feels soft against the skin. After using the product for several months now I saw no additional breakouts, irritations or sensitivity.

The trial size last me about a month of daily use and I am still on my 1st bottle after 2 months of use.
