SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Toning Toner

Skin 1004 is a Korean skincare brand, its brand philosophy is to source ingredients from Good Agriculture and Collect Practice (GACP). A certification system used to determine the ingredients sourced are safe, wholesome, and harvested using sustainable methods. The brand’s star ingredient, centella asiatica, is a medicinal herb that has been used in cooking and medicine for hundreds of years. Over the years the herb came under a few different names: brahmi, asiatic pennywort, tiger grass, and gotu kola.

Centella asiatica is grown in ocean climates hence the ingredient is sourced from Madagascar, off the eastern coast of southern Africa. Centella asiatica, recently gained popularity in skincare due to its potent properties in hydration, soothing and its ability to help reduce inflammation while helping strengthen the skin barrier.

Centella Toning Toner is an exfoliating toner made with 84%of centella extract. It has a low PH level of 5.5 so it will not disrupt the skin’s natural PH balance. The toner has a watery consistency with a light brown color, when applied it does not feel sticky or tacky on the skin. It leaves my skin hydrated and refreshed.

The product can be used like a traditional toner with a cotton pad or applied directly to the face. I find toner can be used as a gentle exfoliating DIY sheet mask but simply soaking the pad in the toner and gently pressing it on the skin for a few minutes. It helps to clear some of the congested areas of my skin.

I also used the centella ampoule in conjunction with the toner, it felt like my skin was purging a little bit. I think the ingredient from the ampoule is a bit strong for me, so I am giving myself a break from the product. The ampoule has the same watery consistency as the toner. It does feel a little tacky after application but it did go away.
