My acne story began at the age of 17. It started as an occasional breakout here and there and soon it developed into painful bumps all over my face. I went from dermatologist to dermatologists hoping they would be able to treat my acne. But the end result was the same; the doctors all prescribed me oral and topical medication. My skin would clear up for a while and then flare up again. It was an endless cycle that lasted up until my mid 20’s. I felt like I tried everything but nothing seemed to work. I was extremely self-conscious about myself. I didn’t understand why I had acne. I thought it would clear up when puberty ended but it didn’t. I hated going outside so I stayed indoors. I read all kind of acne “cures” but what stuck out to me was an article about food.
If there was a possible link between my food intake and my condition it was worth a shot. First I gave up processed food and take out and increase the amount of whole foods, fruits and vegetable into my diet. I planned my meals very carefully. When I was at work I would pack myself a healthy breakfast and lunch along with healthy snacks. Over the course of the next couple of weeks and months my skin changed to change. I noticed my skin was producing less oil. The pimples started to heal and clear. For the 1st time in years I was smiling from the inside out.

Hi,
That was a really heartfelt story and must be difficult to share. Glad you’re telling the world and bringing people with or without acne problems together.
Thanks
