We all agonize over our break outs. Sometimes it’s more stressful thinking, everyone is just staring at your skin. When that happens makeup can come in handy to help cover up some of the blemishes. The breakout may still be there but the cover up gives the illusion of a smooth clear complexion while giving you the extra boast of confidence that you may need.
When I want to cover up my acne/ acne scars I try to look for products that are easy to use, non-comedogenic, and have multiple purpose use so I don’t have to layer tons of makeup on my face. I want my skin to be able to breathe during day so it’s not suffocating.
My favorite go to foundation is pressed powder foundation because the powder is easy to apply, blendable, and light weight. It also helps absorb face oil while keeping my t-zone feeling fresh and matte for hours. Powder foundation usually comes in a compact so I can easily take it with me everywhere I go. I can apply it with a face brush at my desk or in the bathroom. It’s so practical and easy to use I use after my Korean skincare regime (here).
My everyday foundation is by Glo-Minerals; its pressed foundation is my favorite. My dermatologist recommended this brand to me. At the time I was looking for a light weight, easy to use foundation, that won’t clog pores, and good for sensitive skin. I tried the pressed base based on her recommendation and have been using it for years, no breakouts or irritations. With all the natural vitamins and minerals ingredients it helps nourishes the skin while keeping the color intact all day. The texture is soft, smooth and light weight while providing great coverage.

About
Glo-mineral is a mineral makeup line gears towards skincare professionals. The foundation is created talc-free and non-comedogenic.
Even though talc is type of mineral it’s bad for overall health because it can cause serious health issues if inhaled over a long period of time. The good minerals in the foundation includes green tea extract and vitamins A, C, E that will help nourish the skin over time and prevent further skin damage.
Coverage
It delivers high pigmented coverage to create a flawless canvas for your face. For a sheer coverage use a light hand to blend the powder with a sponge or kabuki faces brush. For a full coverage apply multiple layers with a wet sponge or a face brush. The foundation helps cover and evens out the skin. It can be used alone or over liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer.
Packaging
The press powder comes in a compact case with a mirror and a face sponge. The sponge is on the thin side so I would recommend using a regular makeup sponge or a brush. The compact case is a durable shiny black acrylic plastic, I’ve dropped it few times and it’s still intact.
Shades
Glo-minerals comes in over 20 shades ranging from pink to yellow undertones. In order to find your perfect shade search the glo-mineral website for an authorized retailer to try the shades in person.
Throughout the year I typically use 2 different shades, a darker color for the warmer months and a lighter shade for the colder months. In the summer I use golden medium and in the Winter I use golden dark. For your reference my foundation shade in MAC is NC30 which is the equivalent to the golden medium.

Application
I begin my day with my skincare routine (here) followed by a face primer, foundation, and a swipe of concealer and I’m done. Some days I skip concealer and foundation all together and just use tinted moisturizer. To keep the oil at bay use a translucent powder on the T zone or a setting spray as the final step.
